Feeling like I'll never get better, even though I'm not THAT ill anymore it's just taking forever to go T_T

So I'm going to the expo on Saturday, though my Resi Alice costume hasn't arrived (so basically no cosplay) but at least I've done a competition entry this time. Hope I get a mention, though I know I won't win with something that basic.

Also getting to the point that I'm going to need to make a portfolio for applying to arty courses. If anyone has any advice/guidance, I really need it! I haven't got any sketchbooks from schoolwork so it's all going to be my rather samey manganess. And some image manipulation too I guess.

In the meantime, here's some stuff to do:

- Make sample commissions to put up around college (because I'm a self promoting whore of course)
- Make some new character designs and finish a piece on my Fable 2 character.
- Anything that might come in useful for my portfolio interviews.
- Christmas card design ideas

And now for some more Ucas crap

observational drawings and evidence of experimentation with different media - they want to see this

by observational you mean life drawing and still life?

yup, maybe a few different approaches too like continuous line or something- with that kind of thing think about composition, maybe it'll help if you carry round a little sketchbook with you everywhere and every now and then do a quick sketch of a landscape or some people or a plant or whatever, and you could take the sketchbook to the portfolio review or interview or whatever. I'm supposed to have been doing a sketchbook thing but I haven't been finding the time to use it so I'm going to try and do a load of quick sketches over half term. I think in my list I had said something about showing ability to draw inspiration from other artists, guh, I'm annoyed I'm pretty sure I threw out this list yesterday maybe a few days ago I dunno but it was a list sent by my college close to the review saying everything they wanted to see in the portfolio I suppose you might be the more annoyed one after reading this. maybe I kept it i dunno I might have thought it would be useful I should check, I was sorting through a load of stuff which is why i'm not sure.

I am sorry but I'm pretty sure that list is gone for good.

Try using unusual media- coffee, salt on watercolour, rice, sand, paint on unusual surfaces and so on.

I've not got a cosplay either, want to trade clothes and go as each other? :p

I'm just off to get some milk, I may be some time and I'm taking my passport.

lol, that could work^^ though I'm thinking, I might just go in some ubergoth stuff and see how that works out... maybe lolita... maybe just kickass zombie killing goth... but if I don't we can always go as each other :D

well, maybe I'll get one from uni when I apply too? they need to give people SOME kind of guidance after all - but thanks anyway. I'll force tom to model for me a bit, and maybe do some still life. is it good to kinda take in some stuff that you did years ago to compare it with how you draw now? or do they only like to see new stuff?

thing is I think I got that list close to the portfolio thing cuz they expected us to have already done the work it was just saying what kinds of things to select to make sure we covered everything whereas you need to know so you can do the work so it'd be too late. Ask an art teacher for advice maybe they have a similar list or could just tell you everything. no nothing pre college they say not to bring in gcse stuff
